Lake Forest Park
Oh, hardy flower, disdained as weed, Despised for head of feathery seed, Your unsung virtues rate a ballad, Choice roots for wine, crisp leaves for salad. - Betty Gay, Dandelion |

Activities
The Lake Forest Park Garden Club members have the option of taking short trips to visit gardens and specialty nurseries around the Puget sound area. We particularly enjoy visiting gorgeous private gardens we wouldn't be permitted to visit as individuals. Our social and travel calendar is full throughout the year. In December we have a holiday potluck and in January a seed exchange among members. We have a summer picnic and tour members' gardens. We explore other garden destinations such as the Miller and Dunn Gardens, the Witt (winter) Garden at the Arboretum, and the Conservatory at Volunteer Park. Once a year an all day bus trip to tour various sites - nurseries, public and private gardens, artists' workshops, etc. - is planned.
On the last Saturday in April the Lake Forest Park Garden Club holds its annual Plant Sale at the Lake Forest Park Elementary School. The sale hours are from 9 AM to 2 PM. Plants for sale include perennials, shrubs, and annuals. "Queen LaTufa", our tufa lady, has wonderful planters and decorative tufa items for sale. The plant sale has become a wonderful tradition and members of the community look forward to it each year.
The Lake Forest Park Garden Club is one of the sponsoring organizations of the Secret Gardens of Lake Forest Park Garden Tour and Garden Market Fair that is held in June. Members may volunteer as docents at the gardens on the tour and help man a booth at the Garden Market Place. Our share of the proceeds go into our Community Service Fund which helps fund horticultural scholarships at Edmonds Community College and the Master Gardeners' Children's Garden at Animal Acres. Other beneficiaries are the Center for Urban Horticulture Library and the children's garden party sponsored by the YWCA's Pathways program.
The Club offers many opportunities to volunteer and members' participation in any of the activities is encouraged and appreciated.
